The mission of the Pike County Children & Youth
Services is to strengthen, educate and preserve families in
collaboration with community and family resources to ensure the safety,
well being and permanency of the children we serve.
Pike County Children and Youth Services
believes....
- services should build on the strengths and
resources of the family.
- in preserving the family unit and
maintaining relationships whenever possible.
- all children deserve a safe and loving
home.
The Pike County Children & Youth Program
Includes....
- Services to parents and children to enable
children to remain safely in their own homes and communities;
- Temporary placement service to children who
cannot live safely with their own families;
- Services designed to reunite children and
their families when children are in temporary placement;
- Adoption services and adoption assistance
to provide a permanent family for any child who cannot be returned
to his family; and
- Any service or care ordered by the court
for children who have been adjudicated dependent or delinquent.

Foster homes throughout the County provide substitute family life for children who must leave their own
home. The goal of foster care is to provide a nurturing environment for
children until their own parents can provide the needed care.
