The Tax Claim Bureau
is responsible for collecting delinquent
real estate taxes for 2 school districts
and the 13 townships/ boroughs located
throughout Pike County. All Real Estate
taxes are considered delinquent if not
paid by December 31st of the
current year. Any unpaid taxes are
returned to the Bureau in January for
further collection. A $15.00 fee per
claim is applied. Interest accrues at a
rate of 9% annually.

Upset Tax Sales
are conducted for the purpose of
collecting delinquent real
estate taxes owned on any properties in
the county. All liens, mortgages, etc.
are carried with the sale of the
property. Current year’s taxes are
included in the upset price at the sale.
There is NO REDEMPTION PERIOD
once the property is sold.

JUDICIAL SALE
Held in
the spring
These are properties
that have been up for regular upset sale
but remain unsold. These sales are
ordered by the Court and are often
referred to as the “Free & Clear” sale
since all tax and municipal liens are
discharged as well as mortgages and
other filed liens. These properties are
sold for a minimum price, set just to
cover costs of the sale.
