The Pike County Probation
Office is accepting applications together with
resumes for position openings in the Adult
Probation and Parole Section serving the Court
of Common Pleas, 60th Judicial
District, in Milford, PA. Applicants must be a
U.S. citizen, possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a
minimum of 18 credits in Social Science from a
State accredited College or University and a
valid PA drivers’ license. Candidates are
subject to background investigations.
Probation Officers are
peace officers with police powers and authority
throughout the Commonwealth to arrest with or
without warrant, writ rule or process any person
on probation or parole for failure to report or
any other violation of probation or parole.
Probation Officer duties and responsibility
include but are not limited to: conducting
pre-trail bail interviews, presentence
investigations, compiling State Sentencing
Guideline documents for Court, work release
investigations, pre-parole investigations, field
supervision of probationers and parolees to
successful discharge, Intra and Inter-State
Compact Agreement transfers of probation/parole
supervision, enforcing court ordered special
conditions, conducting field drug testing’s,
collecting fines/cost/restitution and fees,
house arrest electronic monitoring, issuing
warrants, petitions in violation of
probation/parole, effectuating arrest of
violators and absconders and giving testimony on
behalf of the Commonwealth in Court
proceedings. Positions involve extensive
interviewing, computer applications, document
research, report writing, working within time
parameters and extensive protective safety
system training.
There is an element of
physical danger in all Probation Officer
positions.
