The Clerk of Courts' main responsibility is to act as custodian for all criminal court records. These records consist of motions, pleadings, transcripts, and any other filing that is related to a criminal case. There do exist some responsibilities that are civil in nature such as maintaining road dockets, and other miscellaneous dockets. 

All records may be viewed on The United Judicial System of Pennsylvania Web Portal with the exception of juvenile and dependency cases, and certain filing placed under "seal" and/or filed confidentially. Records and filings maintained by the Clerk of Courts include, but are not limited to:
  • Criminal
  • Summary appeals
  • Juvenile
  • Dependency
  • Miscellaneous petitions (constable, basic bonds, etc.)
Other duties are to:
  • Maintain custody of all court records:
  • Collect fees on summary appeal cases
  • Prepare motor vehicle form for PennDOT
  • Filing of road dockets
  • Docket all criminal records filed
  • Maintain constable bonds and administered oaths
The responsibility of the Clerk of the Orphans' Courts include the maintaining of dockets and files for incapacitated persons, appointment of guardians, adoptions (which records are confidential) and any other issues which may come before the Orphans' Court Division. The Clerks' office is also responsible for taking applications for - and issuing - marriage license.
