About the Task ForceOpioid Task Force flyer

Lead by the Carbon - Monroe - Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission, the Pike County Substance Abuse Task Force meets monthly to address the issue of addiction, reduce the stigma associated with addiction, and improve the health of all residents.

The Task Force has collaborated with the University of Pittsburgh to create a three-year strategic plan that can benefit from contributions and perspectives from all members of our community. The primary areas of our focus include:

  • Prevention
  • Reducing stigma
  • Enhancing the continuum of care in the treatment and recovery process
  • Improving public safety issues associated with substance use and related overdoses
  • Decreasing supply of illicit drugs
  • Implementing harm reduction strategies
  • Increasing coordination between law enforcement and healthcare/human service entities to support recovery from addiction and improve the wellness of our communities

Naloxone

PA has a standing order with pharmacies for Naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication, and it is available in all Pike County pharmacies.  Visit the Prescribe to Prevent website for administration training videos.

A site-specific, evidence-based program for children 10+ years old to attend with their parent/guardian. It consists of a series of 6 scenes (peer pressure, arrest, jail, overdose, ER and funeral scenes) followed by director’s talking points, Q&A with law enforcement and Q&A with recovering addicts.

For parents and youth ages 10 - 14. A chance to spend quality time together while learning new skills through games and interactive projects. 7 weeks / 2-hour sessions.

Student Assistance Program


The Student Assistance Program Team is a group of administrators, counselors, nurses, and teachers within our local school districts that works to support students who are identified as being “at risk.”  Students can be at risk for any number of things including, but not limited to:  grades, social issues, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, etc.  Students can be referred to our team by teachers, administrators, counselors, students, and parents.

A community resource for Pike County adolescents and families. Programs are offered through a mobile model and at the Milford Health and Wellness building. Education is focused on LifeSkills for teens and parents, caregiver education, recovery from addictive behaviors, stress management and more. Primary objectives include community wellness and access to care for all healthcare needs.
