The Pike County Veterans Affairs Office is dedicated to serving the veteran population by assisting them and their family members with issues concerning federal, state and county benefits. The office encourages you to apply for the benefits. Please make an appointment by calling the Pike County Veterans Affairs Office at (570) 296-3563 to receive more detailed information on what is needed to apply for these benefits.

County Benefits
  • $100.00 county death benefit for burial for Veteran or widow
  • Grave flag holders and flags for veteran’s graves for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day and placing of flags
  • $100.00 county headstone installation benefit
  • $75.00 county headstone engraving benefit if veteran’s grave already has a headstone
  • Recording of DD-214’s/Discharges (free of charge)
  • Certified copies of DD-214
  • Involved in special county-wide activities for parades or events involving the celebration of Memorial Day or Veterans Day
  • Grave registrations for Veterans who are buried in Pike County
  • Pike County Veteran Discount Card

Federal Recognized Wartime periods
Federal Recognized Wartime periods
Under current law, we recognize these wartime periods to decide eligibility for pension benefits:
  • Mexican Border period (May 9, 1916, to April 5, 1917, for Veterans who served in Mexico, on its borders, or in adjacent waters)
  • World War I (April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918)
  • World War II (December 7, 1941, to December 31, 1946)
  • Korean conflict (June 27, 1950, to January 31, 1955)
  • Vietnam War era (November 1, 1955, to May 7, 1975, for Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam during that period. August 5, 1964, to May 7, 1975, for Veterans who served outside of the Republic of Vietnam.)
  • Gulf War (August 2, 1990, through a future date to be set by law or presidential proclamation)

Pike County Veteran Discount Program
The Pike County Commissioners have established a “Veterans Discount Card Program” in Pike County, PA. The card is free and may be used at participating stores within Pike County.

This program is for all former members of the Armed Forces: active duty, peacetime, wartime.

Applications for the discount program can be completed in the Pike County Veterans Affairs Office Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:30am

Documents needed for all applicants
  • Honorable Discharge or DD-214
  • Pennsylvania Drivers License with Pike County Resident address
