Election Day 2020 - Voter Information from the Pike County Elections Office
Resources such as election deadlines, voter registration and ballot applications, mail-in ballot FAQs, COVID-19 safeguards at the polls, and more are available on the Elections Office page within the County website at www.pikepa.org.
As well, the Elections Office encourages voters to submit their mail-in or absentee ballot applications as soon as possible prior to the October 27 application deadline. “We are confident in the security and integrity of our local elections,” says Pike County Elections Director Nadeen Manzoni. “Applying early will further help to streamline the process.”
Additionally, voters should be aware of the following:
- All Pike County Polling locations will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm for in-person voting.
- The same COVID-19 safeguards that had been successfully implemented at the polls during the Primary Election will remain in effect for November to protect poll workers and voters. Voters are asked to wear masks inside the polling place, bring their own pens, and practice social distancing while waiting on line. The number of voters allowed inside the building at one time will be limited to 10 or less. Poll workers will be sanitizing voting booths and equipment between voters so be prepared for longer wait times.
- The Elections Office has received questions from voters concerned about election solicitations and applications addressed to deceased family members or persons who no longer, or never, resided at their address. The Pike County Elections Office does not send unsolicited applications. If you receive a voter registration, absentee or mail-in ballot application that you did not request from the Pike County Elections Office, it did not come from this office.
- Political organizations and lobbying groups are increasingly active during Federal Election years and often mail applications to encourage people to register and vote. Although these applications can be used to register to vote or apply for a ballot, it is important for the public to know that, in most cases, the mailing lists used for these communications are not a reflection of the Pike County Elections Office voter registration database.
- When applications are processed by the Pike County Elections Office, each and every application is vetted and the identity of the applicant confirmed or denied by the verifying agency of the ID number supplied by the applicant, either the Social Security Agency or Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. If either agency fails to confirm the identity of the applicant, the individual is sent a request for proof of identity, which they must provide to have their application approved.
- When applying for a mail-in or absentee ballot, it is recommended to include your email address on the application. This will ensure that you receive notifications when your application is approved, when your ballot has been mailed to you, and when the Elections Office has received your ballot to be counted.
- Voters who have applied for an absentee or mail-in ballot should expect to receive their ballots in late September.
- Be diligent and proactive by applying for an absentee or mail-in ballot well ahead of the deadline of October 27, and mail your ballot back early or deliver it in-person to the Elections Office in the Pike County Administration Building, at 506 Broad Street, in Milford. There is also an Official Ballot Drop Box located inside the entrance of the Pike County Administration Building, at 506 Broad Street, in Milford. Voters can drop off their Mail-In Ballots here Monday - Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The drop-off deadline is 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 3rd. The building will be open to accommodate the deadline.
