Carbon – Monroe – Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission Local Office Now Open

The Carbon – Monroe – Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission, Inc. opened its Pike County office in early January, at 10 Buist Road, Suite 201, in Milford. Services offered at this location include drug and alcohol assessments, case management, outpatient and intensive outpatient services, individual and group counseling services, Court Reporting Network Evaluations, and the Alcohol Highway Safety Program.

The office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Commission is the single county authority working with the local community and stakeholders to ensure that uninsured or under-insured clients are able to access the full continuum of drug and alcohol services to meet their recovery goals.

There is a 24/7 Hotline (866-824-3578) through which clients can access treatment and speak to a case manager.

Pike County’s previous drug and alcohol provider, Catholic Social Services, left in late 2019 due to a lack of funding.

The Pike County Commissioners worked with elected officials at the state level to ensure a seamless transition to the Carbon – Monroe – Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission. “We’re very proud of the expedient cooperative effort that allowed these important services to continue to be available locally,” says Pike County Commissioner Chairman Matthew Osterberg.

The Commission’s Milford Outpatient Supervisor, Shannon Wisniewski, says, “It is important that we work together to help our community members that are struggling with addiction. They need to feel like their needs can be met here in the community and that they will be able to receive quality client-centered care that they can trust.”

The Commission also offers outpatient services at the Pike County Correctional Facility to incarcerated Pike County residents to ensure that inmates have access to services, and to connect them to the full continuum of care upon release.

Inmates work on Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), a type of behavioral therapy geared toward decreasing the likelihood of someone returning to drug or alcohol abuse. They can continue with this evidence-based practice upon release.

“When someone has their ‘ah-ha’ moment and decides that they want to get help, we want to be part of the support system that shows how recovery is possible,” adds Wisniewski.

The Carbon – Monroe – Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission currently chairs the Pike County Opioid Task Force and regularly attends meetings of the Pike County Reentry Coalition.
