Lackawaxen River Corridor Trail Feasibility Study Public Meeting

Lackawaxen River Corridor Trail Feasibility Study Public Meeting

The second public meeting on Pike County’s grant-funded Trail Feasibility Study focusing on the Lackawaxen River corridor, between Hawley and Lackawaxen, will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at the Pike County Training Center, located at 135 Pike County Boulevard, in Lords Valley.

The purpose of the meeting is for the consultant, Woodland Design Associates, to provide an overview of the draft study, and to address the citizen questions posed at the first public meeting held in July 2021.

Public feedback on the trail project is invaluable. Members of the public, both Pike County residents and visitors, are encouraged to attend.

The draft report is now available for public review and can be located on the County website,  www.pikepa.org/trailstudy. A printed copy is available for review at the Pike County Community Planning Office, 837 US Route 6, Unit 3, Shohola, PA 18458; and the Pike County Commissioners Office, 506 Broad Street, Milford, PA 18337.

Project Background
The Trail Feasibility Study seeks to determine the interest, capability, and cost of a trail spanning approximately 14 miles from Hawley Borough along the Stourbridge Rail Line, the Towpath, and the Lackawaxen River, to downtown Lackawaxen.

The feasibility study is partially funded through a DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation Grant of $55,000, with the remainder funded by the Marcellus Legacy Funds, created by Act 13 of 2012 to provide for the distribution of unconventional gas well impact fees to counties, municipalities and commonwealth agencies.
