Pike County Implementable Comprehensive Plan Kickoff

Pike County Implementable Comprehensive Plan Kickoff

At the Pike County Board of Commissioners Meeting on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the County officially launched the process for updating its County Comprehensive Plan. The County updates it comprehensive plan every 10 years to provide a framework for future growth, development, and preservation activities. The Comprehensive Plan Update will utilize the PA Department of Community and Economic Development Implementable Plan model to create a plan that is actionable and measurable. The planning process will take place over the next 18 months with expected adoption in Spring 2024.

Pike County’s Community Planning Office is responsible for the administration of the project. Pike County has contracted with the firm Michael Baker International to manage the planning process and draft the Implementable Comprehensive Plan Update. Michael Baker has also brought in The Institute, an economic research and applied research consulting group based in Wilkes Barre, PA, to support the project.

Beginning in fall 2022 and continuing over the following 18-months, the County will initiate a series of community-based engagement activities including a community-wide survey to receive input and feedback on the future growth and development in Pike County.
