Area Agency on Aging Partners with Subaru for its 15th Annual “Share the Love” Event

The Pike County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is once again partnering with Subaru World for its 15th annual “Share the Love" Event. This is the third year Pike AAA will participate.

From November 17, 2022, and continuing through January 3, 2023, for every new vehicle purchased or leased, Subaru will donate $250 to the buyer’s selected charity. Over the lifetime of the event, Subaru has donated more than $250 million to charity.

Individuals have the option to choose from four national or over 1,700 hometown charities, including Pike County’s Meals on Wheels program, which deliverers nutritious meals to eligible senior citizens.

Since the inception of the “Share the Love” Event in 2008, Subaru and its retailers nationwide have donated $27 million to Meals on Wheels America and local Meals on Wheels programs, making it the largest automotive donor to Meals on Wheels. These donations have helped enable the delivery of nearly four million meals and friendly visits to seniors in need.

Last year, Pike County significantly benefited by being a member of Meals on Wheels of America and joining the “Share the Love” campaign. Its Meals on Wheels program received over $6,000 dollars which went to helping serve over 40,771 meals last year to seniors in their homes. That is 2,400 more meals, a 106% increase from the previous year.

AAA Director Robin Skibber said, “In Pike County, the number of meals being delivered weekly has grown substantially. We are grateful to be able to participate in the Subaru “Share the Love” Event. These meals have made the difference in seniors’ overall health and wellness.”

If you are not in the market for a new vehicle but would still like to help this holiday season, the AAA does accept donations to the Meals on Wheels program. Each donation enables seniors to age with independence and dignity in their own homes, where they want to be. Donations can be made on the Pike County Area Agency on Aging website, www.pikepa.org/aaa.
