Pike County Summer Youth Employment and Training Program Open to Participants

Youth still looking to secure a summer job are in luck! The Pike County Workforce Development Agency’s Summer Youth Employment and Training Program is still accepting applications.

The federally funded County program is open to qualifying Pike County youth ages 14 to 24. Its purpose is to provide job readiness training and competitive wages to area youth at participating worksites. This summer’s worksites include automotive shops, daycares, county offices, local municipalities, construction companies and more.

Individuals interested in participating, should contact Mary Beth Sayles, Workforce Specialist, at 570-296-2909 or mbsayles@pikepa.org, or complete the interest form available on the Workforce Development Agency page of the County website, www.pikepa.org/workforce.

The Youth Orientation will take place on Tuesday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Pike County Workforce Development Agency office, located at 837 Route 6, Unit 2, Shohola, PA 18458.

Employers

The Summer Youth Employment and Training Program depends on local employers to share their expertise. Employers have everything to gain and nothing to lose. The federally funded program covers all costs. The satisfaction derived from helping area youth develop valuable work skills and responsibility is rewarding enough in itself, but many employers have found competent full-time permanent employees in the process.

If you would like to make a difference and be a mentor for a young adult, please consider participating in the Summer Youth Employment and Training Program. Complete the Employer Interest form on www.pikepa.org/workforce.

The Employer Orientation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, at 9 a.m., at the Pike County Workforce Development Agency office, 837 Route 6, Unit 2, Shohola, PA 18458.
